Titles, clearances, and the bloodlines behind them — the record our breeding and training is measured against.

The dogs that built the kennel

  • Ethel — 1948

Lloyd Newton’s first Labrador and the start of the line. A phenomenal retriever who would break the ice on southern Alberta ponds and would not quit until every mallard was brought to hand.
  • FC Staxigo Snap — 1967

Out of the Queen’s kennels in Ireland and also titled in Scotland. The dog of a lifetime, or so we believed at the time.
  • Rigger

An AFC Champion who finished nine Nationals — an outstanding character and the standard the kennel still breeds toward.

What we breed for

We do not breed for color. Every pairing is chosen on the three Ps — performance, pedigree, and prodigy — with health, temperament, and the breed standard ahead of everything else.
